Mekong Atlas is an independent travel guide to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, built around one simple rule: we do not publish a route we have not personally ridden. Every train time, ferry fare and border-crossing note on this site was checked on the ground, receipts kept, and is dated in the text so you know exactly how fresh it is.
The site is written and maintained by Anh Nguyen, a Vietnamese travel writer based between Ho Chi Minh City and Berlin. Anh has spent twelve years travelling overland through Southeast Asia — by Reunification Express sleeper, Laos–China Railway, Mekong slow boat and more tuk-tuks than is reasonable — and writes transit-first guides for independent travellers from Europe, Japan and the Americas.
Editorial standards. Trips are self-funded; we accept no sponsored placements, press trips or affiliate pressure on recommendations. Prices and schedules are verified at the date stated on each page and rechecked on every revisit. When something has changed since our last visit, we say so rather than guess.
Photography. Alongside our own material, this site uses Creative Commons-licensed photography from Wikimedia Commons. Every image is credited to its author with its licence in the page footer, as the licences require.
