Nearly two thousand limestone karsts rise out of the Gulf of Tonkin, carved by twenty million years of wind and tide. Day boats only skim it — the bay changes character at dusk, when the tour traffic leaves and the water turns to hammered pewter.

Yes for the classic route. Two nights only if you want Lan Ha Bay's quieter corners.

Ha Long or Lan Ha?

Same karst, fewer boats in Lan Ha — choose cruises departing Got/Beo pier.

Book ahead?

2–3 days ahead is fine outside Tet and July–August weekends.
